NSFAS For Second Semester 2026
NSFAS For Second Semester 2026
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) helps many South African students pay for their college or university studies. If you’re hoping to get NSFAS funding for the second semester of 2026, it’s important to know when and how to apply and what to expect. Right now, the application window for NSFAS funding for the second semester of 2026 hasn’t opened yet. Typically, NSFAS opens its applications for the whole 2026 academic year between September 2025 and January 2026.
So, if you want to apply for funding that covers anything in 2026, including the second semester, you’ll need to wait until the official application period starts. Applying early won’t work, as those applications won’t be processed. When the application opens, you can apply online through the official NSFAS website. You’ll need to fill in your details, upload documents like your ID and proof of income, and submit everything on time.
Keep in mind that NSFAS is created to help students from low-income families, so there are income limits you have to meet. If you are eligible, NSFAS can cover your tuition fees, accommodation, textbooks, meals, and travel costs. Remember to check your application status regularly once you’ve applied, and respond quickly if NSFAS asks for more information. Being prepared and applying during the right time frame will give you the best chance of getting funding for the second semester of 2026.
