The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has provided access to higher education and reduced financial barriers for numerous South African students. NSFAS Application Opening Date 2025
Nsfas is inviting all eligible and qualified students to submit their applications for the 2025 academic year to stand the chance of gaining financial support for their higher education. The application portal opens from 20th September 2024 through to 15th December 2024. Interested students are advised to submit their applications before the closing date. Late applications will not be accepted for the 2025 academic year.
NSFAS Application Eligibility Criteria 2025
Applicants who apply for NSFAS must meet the following qualifications;
- All South African citizens
- All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
- Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
- A person with disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
- Students who started studying before 2018 and whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.
How To Apply For NSFAS 2025
The NSFAS application form is available on the official website of the agency for easy access by interested students. The NSFAS Application is simple, straightforward and convenient. Follow the steps below to apply for NSFAS 2025;
- Log on to the NSFAS application portal at https://www.nsfas.org.za/
- Click on the “Create an account” tab and provide your ID number, first and last name, email address, contact number and your selected password
- You will then be required to validate your account and the information you have provided
- After creating your account, you can select the “Login” tab and log in by filling in your ID number and password.
- Fill in all the required information and upload your supporting documents.
Which Document Should I Submit To Apply for NSFAS 2025
these documents must be submitted during the NSFAS 2025 application;
- A certified copy of your ID document or birth certificate
- Proof of income for yourself and your parents or guardians, such as salary slips or an affidavit
- A certified copy of your latest academic results or a statement of results
- A letter of acceptance from the tertiary institution you will be attending
- A completed and signed NSFAS bursary application form
- Retrenchment letter
- Death certificate/s
- Divorce Decree
- Proof of legal guardianship
- Marriage certificate
NSFAS Appeals Date 2025
A student must submit an appeal within 30 days of receiving their application results. To submit an appeal, you should first login to myNSFAS profile and provide the requested information.
Who Can Appeal For NSFAS 2025?
If a student’s financial aid application is denied or financial aid for a continuing student is removed, he or she may file an appeal with the NSFAS.
- The appeal decisions are subject to budgetary constraints.
- Appeals will only be entertained for students who have applied for financial aid through NSFAS.
