Is NSFAS Still Open For 2024

YES. NSFAS is still open for applications for the 2024 academic year, therefore if you are aspiring to apply for funding for higher education then this is the right time for you to do so. NSFAS Application Opening Date 2024

The NSFAS Online Application Portal for the 2024 Academic year will be made available from September to 31 January 2024. NSFAS may not consider late applications for 2024 so we urge every applicant to apply as soon as the application window opens before the closing date or deadline.

Required Documents To Apply for NSFAS

The following documents must be uploaded and submitted along with your completed application form;

All applicants must provide a copy of their ID. A temporary ID issued by the Department of Home Affairs will be accepted.
Non-SASSA applicants must provide ID copies of parent/s, legal guardian/guardian or spouse.
Smart ID cards: a copy with both sides of the smart ID must be provided.
Proof of income: The applicant and/or parents/legal guardian/spouse (where applicable (non-SASSA) should provide the latest payslip not older than 3 months, UIF letter, appointment letter, retrenchment letter (applicant and/or parent(s), legal guardian/spouse)
Passports/Driver’s licenses will not be accepted as proof of ID.

How To Apply For NSFAS

Follow the steps below to register for NSFAS;

Visit the official website of NSFAS at: www.nsfas.org.za
Click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab.
Create a myNSFAS account
Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab and complete the sections on the screen
Upload required supporting documents where applicable
Click on ‘Submit’.

Who Can Appeal For NSFAS Funding?

If a student’s financial aid application is denied or financial aid for a continuing student is removed, he or she may file an appeal with the NSFAS.

Appeals decisions are contingent on budget availability.
Appeals will only be entertained for students who have applied for financial aid through NSFAS.

Who Cannot Appeal For NSFAS Funding?

Students may not file an appeal if they:

Are registered for a qualification that NSFAS does not sponsor;
They have completed N+2 (or N+3 in the case of disabled students).
The student is a gap year student who was previously refused financial aid by NSFAS due to academic qualifying criterion violations.
Inquiries should be directed to the institution if they have not submitted their registration record to NSFAS or if they have submitted an incorrect registration record.
