How Many Months Does NSFAS Pay

Do you know how many months NSFAS pays for students in South African Institutions? NSFAS works to guarantee that all eligible students can obtain an excellent college education without facing costs. Students are awarded NSFAS bursaries on the first week of each month for a total of ten months.

Through the government-funded NSFAS program, South African students from low-income families can get financial support. The kind of certification required and the length of time required to obtain it mainly determine the NSFAS costs. A time limit has been established by NSFAS for every academic program.

Your support from NSFAS may be canceled if you go over this time restriction. You must understand the precise timetables for your program and adhere to them when finishing your coursework.

Types of Financial Support Offered by NSFAS

The duration of your NSFAS payments is mostly determined by the sort of funding you get. NSFAS provides support in two major categories:

Loans:

  • NSFAS loans, on the other hand, are repayable if you complete your education and reach a certain salary level. NSFAS loans can be extended for the rest of your undergraduate education, including any extra years if you fail a course or take a gap year. The time required to repay for NSFAS loans varies, although there is typically a grace period before repayment begins.

Bursaries:

  • If you receive an NSFAS bursary, your tuition and accommodation fees will be paid for the whole academic year. Bursaries are not repaid, and they normally span 10 months of study, which corresponds to the conventional academic year.
