NSFAS Eligibility Requirements For 2025

Before applying for NSFAS funding, it’s important to understand the eligibility criteria. To qualify for NSFAS funding, you must:

  • All South African citizens
  • All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
  • Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
  • A person with a disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
  • SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and need not submit any proof of income.

Credentials Required To Apply For NSFAS 2025

To be considered for the NSFAS, you must submit supporting documents. All applicants must provide the following supporting documents;

  • Cellphone number and email address
  • Copy of your ID or birth certificate
  • Copies of your parents, guardian or spouse’s ID
  • proof of your income or 1 year’s IRP5 (if applicable,)
  • Your parents, guardian, or spouse’s evidence of income
  • Those who are SASSA grant recipients, are not to have any proof of income.
  • All Applicants with a disability are to submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form
  • All recognized applicants as Vulnerable Children by the Department of Social Development should also provide a completed and signed
  • Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form.
