NSFAS Application Opening Date for 2025
If you intend to apply for NSFAS in January 2025, you must mark the following dates on your calendar. The application window is available from September 20th through December 15 2024 of the preceding year, however, specific dates may change from year to year. NB: ALL completed applications must be submitted before the closing date as NSFAS will not accept late applications for the 2025 academic year.
Who Does Nsfas Fund for 2025
The Nsfas bursary is available for the category of people listed below:
- All South African citizens
- All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
- Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
- A person with a disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
- SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and need not submit any proof of income.
Documents Required To Apply For 2025 NSFAS
To be considered for the NSFAS scheme, you must submit your completed application along with supporting documents. All applicants must provide the following supporting documents;
- a copy of their ID. A temporary ID issued by the Department of Home Affairs will be accepted.
- Non-SASSA applicants must provide ID copies of parent/s, legal guardian/guardian, or spouse.
- Smart ID cards: a copy with both sides of the smart ID must be provided.
- Proof of income: applicant and/or parents/legal guardian/spouse (where applicable (non-SASSA) should provide the latest payslip not older than 3 months, UIF letter, appointment letter, retrenchment letter (applicant and/or parent(s), legal guardian/spouse)
- Passports/Driver’s licenses will not be accepted as proof of ID.

- Create a myNSFAS account
- Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab and complete the sections on the screen
