When Will NSFAS Open For 2024

NSFAS Application Opening Date 2024

For the 2024 academic year, NSFAS will open its portal for applications from September 28. Be prepared to start your application during this period. The application portal will be closed on  January 31. Make sure to submit your application before the deadline to be considered for funding.

Eligibility Criteria For NSFAS Funding 2024

To qualify for NSFAS funding, you need to meet specific criteria. Below are the general requirements for 2024;

• You must be a South African citizen
• You must be studying or intend on studying towards an undergraduate qualification in 2024
• You must be studying or intend on studying a public tertiary institution within South Africa (University or TVET College)
• You must have satisfactory academic records
• You must NOT have completed any previous qualifications
• You must be in a state of financial need.

Required Documents To Apply For NSFAS

All applicants are required to upload and submit the following documents;

• All applicants must provide a copy of their ID. A temporary ID issued by the Department of Home Affairs will be accepted.
• Non-SASSA applicants must provide ID copies of parent/s, legal guardian/guardian or spouse.
• Smart ID cards: a copy with both sides of the smart ID must be provided.
• Proof of income: The applicant and/or parents/legal guardian/spouse (where applicable (non-SASSA) should provide the latest payslip not older than 3 months, UIF letter, appointment letter, retrenchment letter (applicant and/or parent(s), legal guardian/spouse)
• Passports/Driver’s licenses will not be accepted as proof of ID.

How To Apply For NSFAS

Follow the steps below to complete the NSFAS application;

• Visit the official website of NSFAS at: www.nsfas.org.za
• Click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab.
• Create a myNSFAS account
• Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab and complete the sections on the screen
• Upload required supporting documents where applicable
• Click on ‘Submit’.
