When NSFAS Is Closing 2025 Application

NSFAS Closing Date for 2025 Applications:

The application portal of NSFAS opens on September 20th for the 2025 academic year and closes on 15th December 2024. All completed and accurate applications must be submitted before or on this date since NSFAS will not consider late applications for the 2025 academic year.

NSFAS Eligibility Requirement for 2025

To qualify for an NSFAS, you must meet certain eligibility criteria, which may include:

  • All South African citizens
  • All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
  • Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
  • A person with a disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
  • SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and need not submit any proof of income.

Credentials Needed To Apply For 2025 NSFAS

All applicants are required to upload and submit the following documents;

  • All applicants must provide a copy of their ID. A temporary ID issued by the Department of Home Affairs will be accepted.
  • Non-SASSA applicants must provide ID copies of parent/s, legal guardian/guardian, or spouse.
  • Smart ID cards: a copy with both sides of the smart ID must be provided.
  • Proof of income: The applicant and/or parents/legal guardian/spouse (where applicable (non-SASSA) should provide the latest payslip not older than 3 months, UIF letter, appointment letter, retrenchment letter (applicant and/or parent(s), legal guardian/spouse)
  • Passports/Driver’s licenses will not be accepted as proof of ID.

Follow the steps below to complete the NSFAS form for the 2024 academic year;

  • Visit the official website of NSFAS at: www.nsfas.org.za
  • Click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab.
  • Create a myNSFAS account
  • Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab and complete the sections on the screen
  • Upload required supporting documents where applicable
  • Click on ‘Submit’.
