NSFAS Application Closing Date 2024
The application portal for NSFAS applications is on January 30 2024. Prospective applicants currently enrolled in public universities and TVET Colleges or have been accepted into these institutions may begin to apply now as late applications will not be considered for the 2024 academic year.
NB: A completed application must include correct and accurate information and all required supporting documents.
NSFAS Application Eligibility Requirements 2024
To be eligible for NSFAS funding you must meet the following requirements;
- Be a South African citizen or permanent resident.
- Have completed the National Senior Certificate (NSC) or equivalent qualification.
- Intend to enrol or are currently enrolled at a public university or TVET college.
- Meet the NSFAS means test requirements based on your household income.

How To Apply For NSFAS 2024
Follow the steps below to complete the NSFAS application;
- Visit the official website of NSFAS at: www.nsfas.org.za
- Click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab.
- Create a myNSFAS account
- Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab and complete the sections on the screen
- Upload required supporting documents where applicable
- Click on ‘Submit’.
Documents Required To Apply For NSFAS 2024
All applicants are required to upload and submit the following documents;
- All applicants must provide a copy of their ID. A temporary ID issued by the Department of Home Affairs will be accepted.
- Non-SASSA applicants must provide ID copies of parent/s, legal guardian/guardian or spouse.
- Smart ID cards: a copy with both sides of the smart ID must be provided.
- Proof of income: The applicant and/or parents/legal guardian/spouse (where applicable (non-SASSA) should provide the latest payslip not older than 3 months, UIF letter, appointment letter, retrenchment letter (applicant and/or parent(s), legal guardian/spouse)
- Passports/Driver’s licenses will not be accepted as proof of ID.
