NSFAS Application Status Meaning

The NSFAS application status refers to the current state or condition of an individual student’s NSFAS financial support application. The following is an instance of NSFAS application status:

  • Pending:

This status indicates that the application is being evaluated but that no decision on financial support acceptance or rejection has been made. It indicates that the application is currently being evaluated.

  • Approved:

An “Approved” status indicates that the student’s financial assistance application has been approved and awarded. The student is qualified for NSFAS financial assistance for educational expenditures.

  • Disapproved:

If an application is marked “Disapproved,” it signifies that the student’s financial assistance request has been refused and they will not receive funds from NSFAS. Rejections can happen for a variety of reasons, including incomplete applications or ineligibility.

Who Can Request For NSFAS?

If a student’s financial aid application is denied or financial aid for a continuing student is removed, he or she may file an appeal with the NSFAS.

  • The request decisions are subject to budget availability.
  • Request will only be considered for students who have applied to NSFAS for Financial Aid.

Who cannot request For NSFAS?

Students cannot appeal if they:

  • Are registered for a qualification that NSFAS does not fund;
  • They have reached N+2 (or N+3 in the case of students with disabilities).
  • The student is a gap year student whom NSFAS previously denied financial aid to because s/he did not meet the academic qualification requirement.
