NSFAS Required Documents

All applicants are required to submit:

• Certified copy of your ID, not older than 3 months
• A signed and completed consent form.
• If you are dependent on your parents/guardian/spouse, please provide:
• Certified ID copies of parent/s, guardian, spouse not older than 3 months
• Proof of income of parent, guardian or spouse (payslip or appointment letter
• If you are self-sufficient (no parent/guardian support) please provide: Proof of income (payslip or appointment letter).
• If you have a disability, please provide a completed and signed Annexure A (if your information is not pre-populated on the portal).
• If you are an orphan, please provide a completed and signed Declaration Form, Other documents required, if applicable: Retrenchment letter / UIF documentation; Death certificate/s; Divorce decree.
• An applicant who is recognised as a vulnerable child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed Vulnerable Child Declaration form completed by a social worker.
• An applicant who has indicated that s/he has no family member details and or abridged birth certificate must complete the Declaration: Non-SASSA

Application Procedure for NSFAS

Follow the simple steps below to apply online for NSFAS;

• Go to www.nsfas.org.za and click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab.
• Create a myNSFAS account
• Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab and complete the sections on the screen
• Upload required supporting documents where applicable. The documents include;

1. Copy of student ID / Birth certificate
2. Copy of parent/s or guardian/ spouse ID
3. Smart card: both sides of the card required
4. Proof of income (where applicable)
5. Persons living with disability (Disability Annexure A form)
6. An applicant who is recognised as a vulnerable child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed Vulnerable Child Declaration form completed by a social worker
7. An applicant who has indicated that s/he has no family member details and or abridged birth certificate must complete the Declaration: Non-SASSA
