NSFAS Bursary Agreement
NSFAS Bursary Agreement
The NSFAS Bursary Agreement (NBA) is an important legal document that must be signed by all students who qualify for funding through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). This agreement is between NSFAS and the student, and it explains how the funding will be provided and what responsibilities both sides must follow. NSFAS is a government program that helps students from poor or working-class families pay for their higher education at public universities or TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) colleges.
To qualify for NSFAS and sign this agreement, you must be a South African citizen, show that your household income is below a certain amount, and be accepted into a public university or TVET college. Once your application is approved, you will receive an invitation to sign the bursary agreement. The agreement includes important details, such as what NSFAS will pay for—like tuition, accommodation, books, and transport—and what is expected from you as a student.
You must meet the academic requirements, attend your classes, and complete your studies. Signing the NSFAS Bursary Agreement is a must before any money is paid out. If you don’t sign it, you won’t get the financial support. That’s why it’s very important to read and understand the terms before agreeing. This ensures you receive the funding you need and helps you stay on track with the program’s rules.

The NSFAS Agreement is more than simply a financial arrangement for many prospective students. Below are some important points of the NSFAS Agreement Form.
- Financial Accessibility: It provides access to higher education for students who would otherwise be unable to pay for it, ensuring that education remains a viable option for all, regardless of financial circumstances.
- Debt Relief: Because of the interest-free loans and conversion to bursaries, graduates will be able to enter the workforce without the weight of heavy student debt.
- Accountability and Responsibility: The agreement promotes academic success and responsible behaviour by requiring students to satisfy specific academic requirements to continue receiving support.
