What Is NSFAS?
NSFAS is a government-funded financial aid scheme that assists eligible South African citizens and permanent residents with the expense of their higher education. The system covers a variety of costs, including tuition, housing, books, and living expenses. Unlike loans, NSFAS financing is means-tested, which means that the amount you get is determined by your family’s financial situation. The best aspect is that NSFAS financing is a grant, so you don’t have to pay it back if you achieve specific academic requirements.
