The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutes are of great importance in ensuring that eligible students may follow their aspirations without financial restraints.

NSFAS TVET Walk-In applications Calendar 2024

The application portal for NSFAS application at TVET Colleges opens for Trimester 2 Applications on 5th May and closes on 22nd May.

The portal opens on 17th July and closes on 31st July for Semester 2 Applications

TVET Colleges application for Trimester 3 Applications opens on 04th September and closes on September 20. Applicants are urged to take note of the dates stated above and know when to apply to avoid late applications since NSFAS will not accept late applications for the 2024 academic year.

NSFAS For TVET College Eligibility Criteria 2024

Only South African citizens are eligible for this bursary scheme;
A student must be registered or intending to register on a PLP, NC(V) or Report 191 programme at any of the fifty (50) public TVET Colleges in South Africa;
Must be in need of financial assistance (NSFAS will determine whether or not a student meets the financial eligibility criteria);
Returning students must demonstrate proven and accepted academic performance (academically deserving) in line with the College’s progression policy or the progression prescriptions of the Bursary Rules and Guidelines (whichever is higher);
Must not be enrolling for a qualification that duplicates previous learning that was state-funded; and
Applicants will qualify if they fall within the maximum threshold of up to R350,000 of combined gross family income per annum and are admitted/received a firm offer for enrolment in a College.

Documents To Apply For NSFAS For TVET Colleges 2024

The following documents must be uploaded to support and complete your application for NSFAS;

Copy of student ID / Birth certificate
Copy of parent/s or guardian/ spouse ID
Smart card: both sides of the card required
Proof of income (where applicable)
Persons living with disability (Disability Annexure A form)
An applicant who is recognised as a vulnerable child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed Vulnerable Child Declaration form completed by a social worker
An applicant who has indicated that s/he has no family member details and or abridged birth certificate must complete the Declaration: Non-SASSA.

How To Apply For NSFAS For TVET Colleges 2024

NSFAS for TVET Colleges applications are done online on the official website of the NSFAS agency during the application period. Follow the steps below to apply for NSFAS;

Go to www.nsfas.org.za and click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab.
Create a myNSFAS account
Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab and complete the sections on the screen
Upload required supporting documents where applicable
Click on ‘Submit’.
