Of Course YES. NSFAS is open for 2025 applications, therefore prospective applicants must begin to APPLY NOW. Nsfas is accepting applications for the 2025 academic year for qualified students of South Africa. Candidate must take note of the application opening date and deadline to ensure that their applications are submitted at the right time. Opening Date For NSFAS Application 2025
All students qualified for NSFAS funding for the 2025 academic year may begin to submit their applications now as the NSFAS portal is open. The application portal is open and accepting applications from all students across South Africa who are registered or have been accepted in Public universities and TVET Colleges for the 2025 academic year. Below are the application dates for NSFAS application for TVET Colleges and Universities:
- The NSFAS application portal generally opens in September and closes on January 31.
- TVET Colleges Trimester 2 Applications open on 5th May and close on 22nd May.
- TVET Colleges Semester 2 Applications open on 17th July and close on 31st July.
- Trimester 3 Applications begin on 04th September and close on 20th September.
Qualification Criteria for NSFAS 2025
To apply for NSFAS funding, you need to meet specific qualification criteria. However, the qualification criteria for NSFAS funding include;
- Must be a South African citizen / permanent citizen dweller
- Combined gross household income should not be more than R350 000 per annum
- Combined gross household income (persons living with disabilities) should not be more than R600 000 per annum
- SASSA recipients automatically qualify for financial qualification
- Must have email and cell phone number

Required Legal Papers To Apply For NSFAS 2025
NSFAS candidates must submit the following official papers to apply for funding for the 2025 academic year;
- Copy of student ID / Birth certificate
- Copy of parent/s or guardian/ spouse ID
- Smart card: both sides of the card required
- Proof of income (where applicable)
- Persons living with disability (Disability Annexure A form)
- A candidate who is recognized as a vulnerable child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed Vulnerable Child Declaration form completed by a social worker
- A candidate who has indicated that s/he has no family member details and or abridged birth certificate must complete the Declaration: Non-SASSA.
Application Procedures For NSFAS 2025
To apply for NSFAS funding for the 2025 academic year, follow the steps below;
- Step 1: Go to www.nsfas.org.za and click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab.
- Step 2: Create a myNSFAS account
- Step 3: Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab and complete the sections on the screen
- Step 4: Upload required supporting documents where applicable
- Step 5: Click on ‘Submit’.
NOTE: If you do not have a digital device or internet connection, do not worry; simply go to your local National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) or Thusong Centre and apply in the same manner.
