Which Colleges Offer NSFAS 2025
NSFAS provides funding in the form of bursaries to 26 universities and 50 TVET colleges as a form of financial aid to bright yet needy students who cannot afford the cost of tuition and other educational expenses for the 2025 academic year. Education is a powerful weapon that may open doors to many opportunities, but for many students, the expense of pursuing further education can be a substantial obstacle.
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme is a South African government effort that provides financial aid to students from low-income families for they to pursue higher education. The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) provides financial assistance in the form of loans and bursaries to help cover tuition, housing, and study materials, ensuring that no deserving student is denied access to higher education due to financial constraints.
NSFAS funding for students at colleges includes R24,000 per annum for accommodation in urban areas, R18,900 for peri-urban areas, R15,750 for rural areas, R7,350 for transport (up to 40 km from the institution), R7,000 for general transport, and an incidental/personal care allowance of R2,900 per annum.
